Dr Neil Bristow explains why this year's Summit is unmissable:

"2016 saw a dramatic change in the coking coal and coke markets. At the start of the year coal and coke were severely “out of favour” and coal was deemed “yesterday’s commodity”, and the projections were almost universally bad for more downward pricing and continued oversupply. Someone forgot to tell China. With cuts to output, 330 to 276 days of production, rising steel production defying the bears from the BOF sector, to exceed 810Mt, ultra-low inventories, weather hitting coal supply, the market saw an amazing price rebound in coking coal from US$74/t to US$310/t before tailing off. Coke followed, rising demand saw significant increases with prices almost tripling to US$320/t before declining. What will 2017 bring? This year’s Eurocoke Conference will bring together a range of international experts to discuss key topics in the coke industry and to try to shed some light on what the crystal ball holds for this year."
