DTE Shutters Shanango Coke Plant

DTE Energy recently announced the closing of the Shenango Coke plant in the Pittsburgh area.

With market conditions continuing to challenge the steel and coke industries, the company noted that the strength of the American dollar is causing steel production in the US to be an expensive proposition – and with an oversupply in places such as China, market forces led to fewer and fewer customers for DTE.
