Tour Confirmed: US Steel Tour on November 8th 

US Steel Corp.- Mon Valley Works, Clairton Plant, Clairton, PA

Attendees will have the opportunity to attend a plant tour of the US Steel Corporation Mon Valley Works, Clairton Plant at the conclusion of the conference. 

Tour attendees will be provided a boxed lunch to take with them on the bus to the tour. This tour will be a drive through tour only - so attendees will remain on the bus for the entirety of the tour.

As a requirement to attend the tour, if you are an international delegate and not a US Citizen, we require that you please email us a copy of your passport for pre-screening 3 weeks prior to the conference.

Clairton Plant Tour

    Plant Manager, Mon Valley Works, Clairton US Steel

    Michael Rhoads serves as Plant Manager of United States Steel’s Clairton Plant, Mon Valley Works’ cokemaking facility in Clairton, Pa.

    Rhoads joined U. S. Steel in 1994 as a student co-op at the Clairton Plant and was hired as a staff associate upon completion of his undergraduate degree. He progressed through increasingly responsible management roles at the facility and was named Division Manager of the Coal, Coke and Services Division in 2006.

    He was named plant manager of Minnesota Ore Operations’ Keetac facility, an iron ore mining and pelletizing operation in Keewatin, Minn., in 2007. In 2009, he advanced to division manager – steelmaking & casting at the company’s Gary Works in Gary, Ind. In 2011, he relocated to the Republic of Serbia after being appointed executive director – operations for the former U. S. Steel Serbia, advancing to vice president and general director of the operations in the Republic of Serbia. Upon his return to the Pittsburgh area in 2012, he worked on assignments at U. S. Steel’s corporate headquarters, prior to being named Plant Manager at Clairton in 2015.

    Rhoads graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1995 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and received a master’s degree in business administration from Duquesne University in 2002. He is a native of Rockwood, Pa. and resides in the Pittsburgh area with his wife and two children.
