Methods to reduce emissions from coke and steelmaking

It could be said that the steel industry's greatest hope for survival is to dramatically decrease CO2 emissions in order to meet global climate change targets. With this in mind, this year's Eurocoke Summit includes a session on 'Methods to reduce emissions from coke and steelmaking'. The session, taking place on day two, will cover programmes and technologies that are being developed for carbon capture and environmental performance.

Don't miss presentations from leading experts in the subject including:

  • Emerging CO2 capture technologies by calcium looping and their applicability to the iron and steel industry by Prof J. Carlos Abanades from CSIC-INCAR in Spain
  • An update on the H2020 STEPWISE programme for cost-effective CO2 capture for the iron and steel industry by Paul Cobden who co-ordinates the project at ECN in the Netherlands.

The closing keynote by Dr Hans Bodo L√ľngen, Director of Technology at Steel Institute VDeh, on day one will also cover methods to reduce emissions with his presentation focusing on 'Paths to reduce CO2 emissions in the steel industry'.
